IVI uses pocketsphinx only for voice commands for the home screen,
although, other applications could use this functionality as well, which
they can load the gstreamer plugin for pocketsphinx and get speech
recognition, but the dictionary and grammar that are included in the IVI
builds are only limited to home screen navigation, so you'll have to
create your own.

As far as free form continuous speech, there's no support at least as of
today in IVI, I am not sure if other developers are also looking into
this for MeeGo and/or other MeeGo verticals, but we are also looking to
see if there's any open-source solutions out that are suitable for the
IVI platforms. Last time we checked, the performance and accuracy of
all opensourced-based engines for continuous speech didn't meet our
needs, and pocketsphinx is still pretty light-weight for embedded
systems.
