In both meego 1.1 and meego 1.2 there is a libnotify library, from the Galago
project http://www.galago-project.org/about.php which defines and implements a
freedesktop spec http://www.galago-project.org/specs/notification/0.9/index.html

This library links to gtk+ and depends on a glib main loop at runtime. In Meego
1.1 using this api could display a notification dialog at the right-bottom
corner of the screen, but the same program has no effect on Meego 1.2, it seems
the gtk transient window was hide by the window manager.

Does anyone know if the libnotify is the preferred way to display notifications
on Meego 1.2 and will support QT in some later time? If not, why was it
included in the distribution?

Jianfeng

Subject: [MeeGo-dev] availability of meego notification api?

Hi all, I saw previously MTF has a notification framework as listed on
http://apidocs.meego.com/1.0/mtf/notifications.html. Do we have similar feature
/ APIs available now in QTMobility / QML which applications may use to notify
user about their status update on status bar (or other suitable places on UI) ?

Thanks
Miaobo
