This is not a full answer regarding "when will it be done and in MeeGo";
we'll have to see.

The solution is split into a daemon part and client libraries. The goal
is to pick a license for the daemon which doesn't run afoul of potential
patents in that area, for example Eclipse or Apache License.

The client libraries should be LGPL or more permissive.
