Hmmm... So I was informed, there were no "device specific
configuration" packages allowed.

I even created one, submitted it, filed a bug to have it added.  Alas,
it was rejected.

How did we manage to get one for n900, but have it denied for Aava?

Seems we have a policy disconnect here folks?!?!

Would love to hear (again) from the distro team as to why this
discrepancy exists and how we might remedy it for 1.1.
