Auke, you're right, ConsoleKit 0.4.2 does have issues, see below bug: http://bugs.meego.com/show_bug.cgi?id=9291
This bug is caused by upgrading ConsoleKit from 0.4.1 to 0.4.2, after downgrade ConsoleKit to 0.4.1, everything was fine. The patch to allow OpenSessionWithParameters is actually a declaration in *.conf file, What Auke saying should be the actual implementation is missing in 0.4.2, am I right? Do you have more information why it's removed and whether it will be added in the future?
