Auke, you're right, ConsoleKit 0.4.2 does have issues, see below bug:

This bug is caused by upgrading ConsoleKit from 0.4.1 to 0.4.2,
after downgrade ConsoleKit to 0.4.1, everything was fine.
The patch to allow OpenSessionWithParameters is actually a declaration in
*.conf file,
What Auke saying should be the actual implementation is missing in 0.4.2, am I
right?
Do you have more information why it's removed and whether it will be added in
the future?
it's not removed, but something else broke the implementation of it.
Gentoo found a solution, although I have not validated that:

Are you sure? The patch of allowing this OpenSessionWithParameters is
still in MeeGo.
about 2 months ago I tried vanilla 0.4.2 with our patch, and it broke -
the ConsoleKit session was broken (X starts, but the user won't be able
to use the extra permissions granted through ConsoleKit).
