Ironically I was involved in the gnome-control-center work.  That is
less of a fork and more a slight stabilsation of work that was happening
in master but due to release schedules wouldn't be stable upstream
before we needed it.  We worked with upstream -- and in some parts were
upstream -- so whilst it looked a bit odd it wasn't hostile and in an
ideal world the branch would disappear in the next release.
