This didn't work out as planned. Using libebook inside Buteo's msyncd leads to various random failures, like continuing to use the D-Bus address of an EDS server which has already quit instead of restarting it. It's probably related to the process environment and/or threading, I've seen things like that when not running a glib main loop. Effectively this means that we cannot switch to EDS for contacts without finishing the settings UI for the syncevo-dbus-server first. I suggest that in the meantime we put all the packages into the right repos and test QtContacts-EDS by making the necessary change manually (replace qtcontacts-tracker with qtcontacts-eds). SRs for EDS, KCal-EDS and QtContacts-EDS are pending.
