My thinking.

Discussed in MeeGo IVI Working Group,

Documented here,
http://wiki.meego.com/images/2011-09-13-MeeGoIVIWGroupMeeting.pdf but with a
typo where XFCE is referred to as LXDE:
Also documented here for the last month:
https://bugs.meego.com/show_bug.cgi?id=17502
Also documented in various emails to [email protected] including this one
http://lists.meego.com/pipermail/meego-ivi/2011-August/000750.html

Downstream impact to vendors and app developers is: they will have a new option
for a UX, one that is developer oriented rather than consumer oriented. This
seems to be especially appreciated by all the IVI developers I talk to. The
option to start using XFCE instead of the default IVI UX will be communicated
in notes to be provided, when the update is released.

Thanks for your interest

BTW I work with a team of engineers dedicated to providing MeeGo IVI 1.2.0
sustaining support with regular updates every 6-8 weeks through May 2012 (1
year after 1.2.0 release) and another year of critical security patches as
needed.

regards
Joel

I suppose for the last time, and for old time's sake: whose thinking;
where did it happen; where is it documented and how is the downstream
impact (e.g. to vendors, application developers etc.) being
communicated and managed?

Thanks in advance,

Andrew
