I am trying to setup meep to simulate plane wave scattering. The target is
compact in an infinite homogeneous background. This also means the source
should be located at infinity.

I did a few test simulations but I am still not quite sure whether sources
(e.g. a line source for simulating a plane wave) are transparent or not.
Obviously, I do not want to have scattered field components which originate
from interactions of the backscattered field with the source. If the source is
not transparent the problem can be addressed with proper time gating of a
pulsed source, however, this still would put some rather stringent constraints
on the simulation parameters which I like to avoid if possible, in particular
when ultimately going after 3D problems.

After reading the meep documentation, I assume there is no way at present to
setup a total field/scattered field closed boundary plane wave source as
described in Taflove's book!?

Regards,

Markus
