Hi Thanks for the response :) I missed it since I receive the mailing list stuff as a digest and not individual mails.
I was actually thinking more along the lines of "integrating" SPICE type models into the simulation. Maybe measuring currents at certain points and feeding that into SPICE simulation and then taking output from SPICE and use it as a source somewhere else inside the FDTD simulation space. Is this a good idea with the way MEEP works? It seems to be the case especially if I use the C++ interface to MEEP. And another question. If MEEP divides the simulation into MPI jobs, how much information flows between the jobs in relation to the total amount of information contained in sampling space? What constitues an MPI job? Does MEEP divide the space into seperable "cubes"? The reason why I am asking is to get a feel of how long a job will take approx if I use commercial beige boxen with say 2GB RAM + gigabit ethernet connecting them. Thanks in advance for the help! pieterg On 13/11/06, Pieter G <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
Hi, I am currently considering using MEEP to do FDTD simulations on circuit boards generated by KiCAD (kicad.sourceforge.net), but since EM wasnt my strongest subject, I have a few questions :) First, what I want to do: I want to take PCB geometries (especially the high speed digital lines) from the CAD files and input it into the structures used by MEEP to simulate for crosstalk and signal reflections on the lines (think DDRII and DDRIII at 400MHz). Are MEEP actually the right choice for this kind of problem (I think so!)? Do you know of any other project (OSS) that might be better suited to my problem? Or even technical articles that discuss this subject. Next, the various signal sources should be fine (square waves), but can we add passive components, such as capacitors to this whole simulation? And how can we handle signal termination? If I have an impedance for a pin, can I spesify a "current-sink" for this? Thanks for your patience, much appreciated. P Gildenhuys
