PMLs are designed to work only in uniform media, where the dielectric function can be analytically continued into the complex co-ordinate -- hence the "perfectly matched" nomenclature. To my knowledge, it is not known what the reflections are of using PMLs in periodic media but you shouldn't surround your DBR with an artificial uniform layer as there again the impedance mismatch will produce reflections of its own. One test you might try is to increase the thickness of the PML layer and see whether your results change. Making the PML long enough is the best solution here.
