Hi,

currently I'm trying to simulate scattering of a random surface. To deal with it in meep (version 1.0), I cut the structure into 1.2e5 single blocks on a 3D grid with 40M grid points. However if the number of blocks exceeds some 10000, the parsing of the geometry suddenly slows down significantly. I didn't track down the point where performance breaks down, but it seems to be somewhere around 3e4. Is there any fundamental reason for this behaviour?

A second gestions concerns subpixel-averaging:
Despite (set! eps-averaging? false) I get some messages from meep about subpixel-averaging. Is there a way to avoid this?

Regards
Matthias
