Hello Prof. Steven Johnson and Meepers,

I am very new to MEEP and not particularly bright so apologies in advance. I measure the fields of a cylindrical structure which contains a gaussian source, and then do the discrete fourier transform myself to find the near field pattern, however I am confused about what value of 'dt' to use in the transform. I take readings every 0.6 time units i.e. (at-every 0.6 output-hfield-z).

When using a resolution of say 5, the .out file outputs the following

on time step 42 (time=4.2), 0.0097114 s/step
on time step 107 (time=10.7). 0.0617219 s/step

etc so implying every 0.1 is taken. With a resoultion of 10, this changes i.e.

on time step 1 (time=0.05), 6.12472 s/step
on time step 13 (time=0.65), 0.334166 s/step

etc.

so do I need to change dt to 0.1 and 0.05 for resolutions of 5 and 10 respectively or just use 0.6?

Thanks!
Sophia
