I'm told that CSAC is preparing a statewide ballot measure that would redistribute the City 1% share of Sales Tax on the following basis - .5% to Cities on a Situs Basis; .25% to Cities on a Per Capita Basis and .25% to Cities that "lose ground" in a Per Capita system. Apparently talk of this idea is starting to surface in the CSAC Newsletter. My question: if we're supposedly "working together" with the Counties, why are they planning to stab us in the back with this proposal? And why are Counties so concerned about City revenue sources? Shouldn't they be more focused on their own? Hmmm. Sounds like the League needs to sit down with the CSAC folks and have a little chat. -- Brian Moura, San Carlos
