Hi all:
The survey question asked if any cities had developed a computer training
assessment to evaluate employee proficiency on certain types of software,
link with performance evaluations, and anything cities do to manage and
enhance computer literacy. Apparently this is not a hot topic for cities,
at least as it was phrased, because I received only two responses:
El Cajon - Have used software package OPAC to test candidates for
word processing and database management. They are no longer using this.
Rancho Palos Verdes - Do not attempt to monitor proficiency
(employees would not like), but offer training vouchers to outside provider.
Participation is so-so. Set up a computer based training room a year ago
with little use and participation. Mandatory training when new network
installed.
