Hi Mike:

I hope you don't mind if I piggy back on your survey, for those who haven't
responded yet.

We are curious, for those cities with a 9/80 compressed work schedule, how
many have a unified closed day, versus a staggered closed day (in essence,
keeping City Hall open all business days but staggering the day employees
have off.) Culver City has worked on a 9/80 CWS with a unified closed day
for years (after starting out with a staggered 9/80 CWS), but now our City
Council wants us to look into going back to a staggered 9/80 CWS, to
increase public service.

I didn't want to send out a separate inquiry on this, since there are
already a couple of alternate work schedule surveys posted on the CSMFO web
site, including one from earlier this year. However, I believe that many
folks who have experienced both the staggered 9/80 CWS and the 9/80 CWS with
a unified closed day have some strong opinions about the
advantages/disadvantages of each system, from a business perspective and a
personal viewpoint. If anyone cares to weigh in with their thoughts by
sending me a separate note, I'd be pleased to receive your comments.

Thanks!

Subject: [members] Employee benefits

Hi,
As all of you know benefits are not the same for each city; I would like to
do a survey and then accumulate the results for use by all. In our city we
believe that we are probably the most generous in California and in our
labor negotiations it would help to indicate what other cities have for
benefits. Your help is very appreciated. Please indicate for both
Management and Misc. employees (we have no Public Safety)
      Item Mgmt Misc

1. Working Hours
       Per week (number)
       Schedule (ie. 9/80)

2. Vacation (#of hours)
       0-5 years
       5-10 years
       10-15 years
       Over 15 years

3. Number of holidays

4. Sick Leave accrual per month
    in hours

5. Admin leave hours per year

6. Retirement
    Benefit (2@55)
    Who pays employee share
    Medical paid

7. Bilingual Pay (how much)

8. Deferred Comp (any matching, How much)

9. Health benefits
Does it include dental, vision, life

10. Do you have a Cafeteria plan
If so, how much is contributed?

I know this is a long; but I think it will give all of us a better feel for
what is going on in other cities and parts of California.

Thank you very much
