I am pleased to announce the results of general body meeting held on January 25th at Bond community center. This meeting was called by CIT, participation was very good. As you all know the meeting agenda was to decide whether the newly elect EC for 2003 be ratified. All members present voted and the decision was to let the new elect EC continue, total votes were 45 out of which 41 members voted in favor of new elect EC and 4 votes were against the new elect EC, with an overwhelming support for the new EC elect for 2003. Oath cermony was held immediately after the elections. Please note the new elect 2003 EC President is Fauzia F.Shah, Vice President is Iltifat Patel, Social Coordinator is Khurram Bilal Tariq, General Secretary is Maryam Saboohi, Treasurer is Asiyya Wasiti.
Now the task of moving PAA forward is underway, for that your support is needed. Our agenda is: 1- to increase membership. 2- Register PAA with IRS so members can benefit when they give donations as this is tax dedutable. 3-Form a committee to oversee a Zakat fund which will be for members only if and when they need assistance. 4-A fund for children will also be set a side and distributed upon accomplishments, if enough money is raised then we may offer grants to students. We hope to work as a team, we want your suggestions on how to improve PAA, what are your needs/expectations from this association. Please send us your comments as soon as possible so we can implement them. We are also looking for any Attorneys which can help our community with the registration process and answer any legal questions related to immigration. We are currently planning on a Eid function in Febuary, time, date and place will be announced at a later date. We are looking for volunteers to participate in that program. Finally I want to thank every one who participated in the General Body meeting for supporting the new elect EC of 2003, without your help this would not have been possible, we hope to live up to your exppectations and serve this community with utmost integrity, morals and values. We plan to promote Pakistani/American culture and values to help create a better image in the community, in our new country which has embraced us with compassion, given us the freedom to practice our religion and culture,lets show our gratitude by our actions and behaviors.
