I've been a bit busy lately but as Errol posted a good run down on Gerry Ball who was synonymous with the rally scene in Canberra and surrounds in the 70's I sat on my reply for a few days. Gerry worked at Lennocks before he went out on his own in what was a very successful business but after that near fatal accident in the London to Sydney their lives changed somewhat. When i saw your post I was trying to remember who the 3rd person was, Errol said it was Bob Cromley who I don't know. I thought i could have been Fred Gisentas (sp?) who was one of Canberra's well known navigators that was connected with their team. IMO the best driver to come out of the team was no doubt Greg Carr. Gerry has probably had the most influence in the success of they rally scene in Canberra with his sponsorship and transfer of technology (Brian Moore and me included 72-73 in a 1400GX powered B110) of young drivers even at the club level - we owe him more than any of us could ever pay in those days. I heard quite recently 2nd or 3rd hand that he is still at Lennocks doing assessments on warranty work and insurance claims.

I was reading some old articles from about 1976 on the Total Southern Cross Rally and the various teams etc. It mentions the Factory Datsun team of George Fury and the Gerry Ball team of Greg Carr. It mentions that Gerry Ball was a Canberra based Datsun tuner and was co-sponsoring the car with Lennocks Datsun. I was just wondering if you had heard of him and whether he was still involved with Datto's.
Sorry to bore the list with a nostalgia trip but its just interesting.
