Don't be tempted to drill through the sm bolts holes on the doggy box (btw there's nothing wrong with doggy boxes - the Opt3 was best built box that nissan made that was affordable imho) as the bell housing is fairly thin behind there and this is more than likely the only problem you'll have with the doggy. The bh will just crack like an egg.
Helicoil is the way to go, it's only 24 hrs

James,
Would it be possible to drill the hole all the way through and put a nut and bolt setup on?
Cheers

Subject: Starter Motor Bolts StrippedHi Everyone
Well I am just about to put the 2L and sss 5 speed (dog leg type- hey I
got
it cheap:) into the 16 and am cleaning up the thing before dropping it
in...
only to discover that one of the starter motor bolts is stripped (The
thread
is part of the gearbox) :(
Anyone got any ideas on how to fix it....otherwise I will have to put
off the install another night and take the box somewhere tomorrow
and get it helicoiled......but I don't want to wait another day.....
I have already tried to tap it out to another thread size to no avail.anybody got any brain waves??
