I'm new to the list and this is my first go at a Datsun
project car, I've got a few technical questions, the answers may be of
assistance to others as well.
Here they are, thanks in advance.
Nick.
What do the various Datsun models
weigh?
I am specially interested in the Stanza, 200B, and
Bluebird.
How much metal can be ( safely! )
removed from a L20B flywheel?
I need to remove approx. 2mm of metal from the head and/or
block to give a ~10:1 CR.
The std. combustion chamber volume is 65cc (swept vol. =
488cc), I want to bring it down to ~55cc including the small amount of
reprofiling needed around the inlet and exhaust valves.
Can it be done, and has anyone done it (or does everyone use
the L18 head)? What is the minimum deck clearance allowed (
approx. 10thou??? ) and can the slightly dished pistons be shaved flat and
remain reliable to >6000rpm?(See supercharged Bluebird feature
car)
How much can the head and deck be
shaved?
Also, the L20B head appears to have poor 'squish' areas in the
combustion chamber, specially considering the dished pistons ???
I am currently re-building a L20B from a Bluebird
TRX donor vehicle for use in a road/club car, I intended to use a Stanza
shell to give the best power/weight ratio - but they are (relatively) expensive
and hard to find.
