Has anyone expereinced a problem like this:
Without a thermostat, my 510 runs cold even after an hour in traffic.
With a thermostat, it overheats in about 10 minutes. I have tested the
thermostat in a pot of water on the stove with a thermometer and it
works. The water pump is brand new. If I take off the radiater cap
without the thermostat in place I can see water flowing through well, but
with the thermostat in the water doesn't move at all. The lower radiater
hose is not collapsing and neither are kinked. I just seem to never get
the thermostat to open in the car. The car had 190 degree Farenheit
thermostat when the trouble started. I replace it with a 180 and it is
still there. So right now I am driving it without a thermostat. The car
doesn't have any major modifications and everything else seems to be in
excellent shape. How do I fix it?
Thanks,
1969 Datsun 510 wagon
Chris
