howdy list,
i have just finished off my first engine rebuild
on an L20B for my 1600.
it's a great feeling to have it together in the
car...... BUT
before kicking it over i filled the radiator up and when it
was almost full water started to trickle from between the head and gasket in 3
places on the side above the spark plugs. why????. i had tighten it correctly
only hours before
The head had to be welded on the outer water jackets between
cylinder 3 and 4 and it was machined, so i would have thought it would be dead
straight!!! But the water seems to be leaking from the welds!
Once i saw that i didn't start it. :.(
I have rung a few head places and they said this is strange
and to maybe run it until warm and then retighten the bolts. This sounds
reasonable, but i thought i should get some more thoughts ......
