Terry,
Thanks
for that. I had an original 55Amp
that had been rewound to about 100Amp.
Great power but reliability was a big
problem.
As far
as the lights, I have to be careful as I can only fit an extra pair. The rules for (as I understand the
CAMS manual) for PRC3 is that a maximum of 6 forward facing lights is
allowed. What I am trying to do
is get some spotlights to replace the high beam and fit a set of
floods.
Talk
about no respect, I got woken up this morning by a strange noise and my
security light on. I went out to
check and here was a guy pulling on one of the front wheels. After the
obligatory abuse as in “Excuse me sir, but may I assist you?” (That’s how I
remember it anyway). I just
wanted to see how well the wheels were secured. Was the reply. Needless to say he took off. Like you said, no
respect.
cheers

Subject: Re: Alternators/Driving
Lights
Michael,
Some EFI Nissans have
around 85 amp alternators, the V6 Maxima is close to that and could fit
without too many mods, i think the SR & FJ alternators available from
importers are only 75 amp but that still would go close to doing the job -
Hitachi is very reliable these days too.
As for lights if you want
the best I think Cibies are still the one. To do it right you'll need 2 spots
and 2 floods mounted up/down each side of the bar and you'll turn night into
day. Make them removable if the car is not secure 24 hours every day as
they'll walk - there's no respect out there these days.

Getting
the 610 to go rallying, I want to upgrade the alternator to power driving
lights, etc. The current one is the standard 55AMP Bosch Unit. Are
there any reasonable upgrades to about 85AMP?
Secondly, I am also
after some driving lights for the front. Anybody have
recommendations/suppliers?
All I
have to do now is find a navigator.
Cheers
