Before you buy, pull your noisy box down. If it only needs bearings, a full
set may cost just $100. I just pulled down a Mazda 5 speed which felt and
sounded awful. Cost for me to totally rebuild is $140, including 2 new
synchro rings. I was quoted $200 by my local professional transmission
rebuilder. If it adds up to too much then you decide whether to buy another
box.
A replacement stumpy stanza box is probably $250, a stumpy skyline $400+?.
