I wasn't going to contradict you on finding a stumpy skyline box with dogleg
(SSS) gear pattern, but it doesnt surprise me that your box wasn't a
skyline. I dont think the combination of SSS gear pattern and stumpy
skyline box came together, you get one or the other.

I have both boxes in my 1600 parts "collection". Both have the speedo drive
on the LHS. Nothing wrong with a SSS Stanza box behind a reasonably powerful
L series engine.

The internals are where the main differences are, size of gears, bearings,
ratios. The stumpy skyline also has heavier external ribs around the front
half of the box.
