Jeff,
There were 120 landed in Melbourne in 1980 that were destined for South
Africa in CKD (completely Knocked Down) form. They were unloaded here by
mistake with other cars at the time and Nissan Built them up and sold them
as it was cheaper to do that than re ship them. The jigging shell for the
assembly was flown to melbourne from Japan (KPA10 000 000). I owned this
vehicle for 9 years and have had three other coupes I still have some
window glass and other bits somewhere.
The coupes were assembled but did not attract much interest in their day as
they were a little overpriced. To make them more palatable for the masses,
air con was made standard. They also attracted an insurance premium as a
coupe, this did nothing for their popularity (same with the Sunny coupes
that share the same subframe platform as the Stanza!).

I think that they are all imports. Just earlier today, I saw an orange one
parked near Kings Cross which was a stocker.
The coupes were released in New Zealend but not in Australia. I think that
people have brought across to Aust.
No, I haven't seen many around, just a couple.
