Hi guys,
The other day I put my twin 40mm dellortos on (with a little help
from a very experienced datsun 1600 rally mechanic), he said one of the
carbs wasnt working properly, because the accelerator vacuum/pump thing
wasnt working properly, but he said he fixed it so it'll work alright now.
But my problem is that there is no vacuum (i think anyway) on acceleration
from idle, it kind of lumps its way up to about 3000rpm then stutters a bit
until it gets to about 5000rpm then it goes like the clapper (this is the
same for all gears), but on release of accelerator its backfires and pops
everywhere, a mate was driving behind me and said when it backfired it shot
out a small flame but no smoke. The guy who put the carbs on said i may have
blown head gasket and probably 1 or 2 burnt out valves. Is this right? or
is it a simple fix? please help i cant stand my datto running like shit!
