You can set up additional email accounts for your bigpond account, see:

I have found the autospeed email to be a bit slow. I have some accounts at
mail.com, you can forward to other email accounts as well. Great for having
a public email address you can use in forums etc which forwards to your real
address. When you start receiving too much spam, you can just change the
public email address.
