This is a bit of a summary of an article I have written for the NDSOC club
mag. I still need to sort out the carb jetting. Wade 76 regrind cam has
helped heaps but not too effective at winton. Spacing of gears between 2nd
and 3rd not enough to keep Cam on the boil and as a result had to use 3rd
gear around the whole track and as a result bogged down out of the hairpins.
Need a cheep 4.4 locker diff to solve problem. Should be good at sandown and
Phillip Is where I can rev out in 3rd and 4th on the straights. Oh yer no
fuel probs now with the 3/8 fuel line! If you are having play day on the
22nd I will try and come down.
Saturday driver training:
I learnt a lot in the driver training and I personally dropped my lap times
by 2 seconds. I changed jetting during the day and times improved by a few
more seconds. The eventual outcome was a string of hand timed 1:21s, 1:20s
and a freak 1:18s. I also managed a bit of rally cross after leaving the
track at high speed half way round the sweeper. This resulted in the car
becoming bogged and covered in mud.
Sunday sprints:
We were greeted with cold wet conditions on Sunday. The day was held up with
lots of spins and cars leaving the track all over the place. I had a good
weekend and have managed to catch and beat a few cars that I have been
chipping away at all year. The 1600 rounded up and passed a 350ci Monaro,
Hot 4 clyinder Capri, 70's style GT twin cam celica, fiat 124 sedan and a
couple of triumphs. I think the guy with the Monaro is probably still
shocked. Not bad results considering I have only a small weekly budget and a
$45 short engine from a wrecking yard. Best time was 1min 19:07 secs.

increased
fuel pipe diameter resulted in increased perfomance
