David,
I am assuming the car is for the drags only. Does the Stanza diff pull out
from the front of the housing (8 bolts, H165, Banjo type) or does it have a
plate on the rear of the diff (Salisbury). If the Salisbury type I would
throw it! If it is a Banjo type (H165) then get a C20 van centre (4.875)
and fit this up. I used a 4.875 on my old Stanza race car for hill climbs
and short circuits like Winton old track.
Should be a really nice combination.
Cheers
Feral Errol

Subject: Diff ratios ??

I was just wondering if anyone could recomend a diff ratio to use...

I've got a 120Y sedan, it's been lightened (fiber glass front guards,
bonnet and boot, no spare or jack, perspex rear windows and quarter glass,
no carpet or foor lining)
L16, single webber (soon to be twins), Ivan Tighe cam, oversized flat top
forged pistons, lightweight crank, ported heads with BIG (6cyl) valves,
extractors, 2" sports system, 5 spd SSS Stanza box

I've got 2 diffs, the standard 120Y diff with 3.900:1 gears and 1 from a
SSS Stanza with 4.375:1 gears that I can get shortened

The stanza diff would be a lot stronger but I think the ratio would be too
low for this setup wouldn't it?
The 120Y diff would probably be a better ratio but it wouldn't last a week
behind that engine

would either of these diffs be suitable? if not, what does everyone
recomend?

oh by the way it's for the 1/4 mile, not worried about whether it revs hard
on the freeway or performance for circut type situations, just after best
possible 1/4 mile times
