Hi Jeremy, Chrome moly is the way to go if you can afford it. Its bloody strong and blood light!! But there is a down side it also bloody expensive... If you do go moly make sure the person welding it is a certified welder cos if you weld it poorly it becomes brittle- easily breaks. The CAMS man says it now must be of 350Kpa or higher grade of steel. Spend as much as you can afford on your cage cos one day it mite save your life(pray it never happens, touch wood!!!!). The question you have to ask yourself is how much am I worth? YES ALOT!!! If you are just starting out I recommend you go for 350Kpa mild steel cage that is welded in but with removable side bars!! Cos bolted in cages are handy if you rite your car off, but you are not meant to think like that!! Plus CAMS is going to outlaw them to some into line with FIA rules, I think next year or in 2002!!! So that cage would be useless anyway!!- waste of money!!! ! Get a 6 point with a diagonal brace and the bolt in side bars!!! that's a nice little cage, In my car I have a 10 point cage with other bars as well, fucking thing cost me a fortune!!! You should also check with your RTA. Also tell the cage builder that it is a street driven car and must comply with the RTA rules, hence the side bars must be at a certain height in relation to the front seats, also you will need padding as well, this goes anywhere around you and where your mates will be sitting. Before you get your cage built, go to cams and ask for a ROPS- i THINK that what it is. It's a form you will need to get your log book!! It has questions for you to answer and the cage biulder, S/he should already know about it!!! If not go somewhere else cos everybody knows about this now, this just shows how unprofessional that cage biulder is!!! Anyway go to go , I hope I was helpful and good luck with everything and welcome to the club of cr! azy bastards, HE HEHE HEHEHEHEH E
