Paddy,
The problems only occur above 85mm bore sizes on the L16. By 86mm the bore
flex can crack bores quickly. To go over 85mm I would always sleeve the
block. Sounds like the L16 (L18?) should give about 150hp in that trim and
have good torque as well. The W53 is the stock stanza head. $2mm inlet and
35 mm exhausts (same as A87 but with smaller chamber and smaller ports).
What ever happened to that L14 the wrecker had over there. I would be still
interested in it if Its still there and what would I have to pay to get
it?.
Cheers
Feral Errol

g`day,
i got an L16 in my 510 that ive fitted with an L18 crank and rods and have
bored it to 85mm giving the same 1770cc displacement as the L18. ive heard
there is sposed to be potential cylinder wall thickness problems with
boring
the L16 but mines been goin good for a year now with no signs of trouble.

im using a W53head(L16stanza?) with twin 40dcoe`s and nearly flat top
pistons, not dead sure on dish size but its about 1cc, got a waggot cam and
elec ignition, nothin real powerful but goes alrite i guess.
Paddy
