Gregg,

You'd be surprised how stable a 1200 coupe is a high speed, compared to a
1600 sedan that is. I could hit the rev limiter on the 1600/FJturbo 1600
down conrod and that was 130mph or 210kph (and a real hand full). it had a
4.375 diff as it was geared for Wakefield Park and not that suitable for
Bathurst. I only raced it there once as I just happened to get invited to go
there with late notice to a meeting one weekend with a bunch of ford escort
guys. I blew them all away especially up mountain straight and you should
have seen the looks I got as this Datto that looked like a rally car roared
past them and it was worth the price of admission, I didn't just crawl past
them I smoked them badly. That 1600 cornered far better around right hand
corners (maybe it was in my head) but .

I could enter what is known as Bridgestone corner these days at 100 mph in
4th with the right foot through the floor and most of the bda's couldn't
even clock 100mph up the hill. In my 1200 GX1400/4 spd the quickest it was
recorded at Bathurst down conrod was 120mph or 193 kph as it would only pull
7000 rpm with a 3.9 diff and it was around 10 seconds a lap slower than the
Charger E37 R/T at 144mph or 230kph at an average lap speed of only 92 mph
so how fast was George's Z18 turbo Bluebird.

120 k's in a 1200 would be pretty scary shit I reckon, let alone 223! :)
