Thanks for the report on the sprints Mick , A Nissan is the only make
that has finnished in the top 3 positions overall each year since the
sprints started the 3years ago . . The track was very loose at the start
and rough in places but was fun to drive .I wil be back next year !

>Short Story
>Great weekend... and a Nissan won outright!!!
>Long Story
>It took me until Sunday afternoon to get the car stable enough under brakes
>to be able to get stuck in properly.. And theres some mighty fast cars out
>there.. Mark Edwards' 1200 ute was very quick @ 47.46. Craig Allen's 1200
>coupe was also very fast and won his div @45.05 Rod Grays 1200 coupe did a
>44.27 to come third in a large "unregistered 2501cc - 5000cc div". Jon
>Siddins 240Z was mighty fast at 43.96 but just shaded by an impreza at
>43.87. The Escort which won my div ran 45.26. Overall fastest was a real
>dogfight between a very expensive mid-mounted chev V8 Honda Prelude and the
>Derek Pingel Nissan GTR V Spec Coupe. The Nissan was really quiet and
looked
>stock.. Man was it FAST!!! Fastest lap 41.35 - the Honda managed 42.06
>As for the yellow peril... The major objective of not bending it was
>achieved !!
>It took me ages to get tyre pressure and brake bias sorted out. Each run is
>less than a minute- 8 runs in total for the weekend.. means u must have the
>car sorted before u get there.. I had trouble heating up the brakes, tyres
>and motor.. Softer brake pads would be the go.. I also dropped my tyre
>pressures nearly 10psi on the saturday cos it was quite cold.... from 32/30
>to 23/24..Bias was totally to the rear and, at one turn on the balance bar
>per race, it took me a few runs to dial it in. Also first gear was useless
>off the line and i took off in 2nd all weekend -and still had traction
>problems!! My times were 53.91, 53.70, 53.97, 53.94, 53.47, 52.11 and
>51.92.. The Escort who won the div was an immaculate 'mexico' with a motor
>that sounded so sweet and it flew..His speed on the straight was 123kmh
>compared to my paltry 102kmh.. This was timed by the cops - in an 80
zone...
>I have no idea how I can make up 6.5 secs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
>It was a great weekend and Nissan won!!!!
