Say they buy an item for $250, it would be
priced to the average joe at $499 or something similar.......
The computing industry certainly isn't like that-
most retailers are lucky to make 5-10%... in fact I talk to some box-movers
who make a paltry $50 on each machine they move out the doors.... The
difference must be that the audio business is a closed market eg the Clarions
and Alpines etc only supply stuff to licensed dealers whereas anybody will sell
you a PC wholesale.....thats my guess anyway ;o)

So you mean they buy speakers for $70 and sell them to us for
$210? or $140?
Most industries have a 100% markup but 200% is a bit harsh..

All fixed. They told me it was an earthing
problem but I think thats prolly crap! Interesting side note: the company I work for
runs the computers and accounting software at one car audio place and I was
having a poke around in it the other day, it's not uncommon to find markups
on the order of 2x cost on car audio gear eg speakers amps etc.. sounds like
I'm in the wrong game ;) Bout the inlet trumpets, found some aluminium ones for $30 each on
Magill rd, sounds like the easy way to go since I dont have any tools (or
any skills) to make my own up. Any recommendations for an adelaide workshop to get my SU's
re-retuned like Terry suggested? Thanks -
Tom
