Graeme,

Special Piston Services of Melbourne used to supply Cosworth forged pistons
for the RB30, can't recall if they're within your budget.

Safe boost depends on quite a few things, mainly avoid detonation; here are
some general guidelines that I have used for Nissan turbos on standard
pistons, namely a FJ20DET. RB's would be similar, assumes engine in good
condition, tuned well, correct fuel pressure and correct grade of regularly
changed oil etc - common sense stuff.

non-intercooled ulp 7-9 psi pulp 9-11 psi
intercooled ulp 9-12 psi pulp 11-14 psi

Bottom level sustained, top of level occasional. I've never blown a FJ20DET
yet by sticking to this advice.

Does anyone know where I can get forged pistons for a RB30 turbo motor for
less
than $1950, or does anybody know how much boost the standard pistons will
hold - tia Graeme
