Pity Zac
I saw an L20T powered MR30 at my local wrecker a couple of years ago. He
didn't want to break it up as he said he had a buyer for it complete. The
deal fell over and by the time I got back the front struts had gone.
I scored the rear trailing arms with discs, and the gearbox, but I am
regretting not taking the whole rear end. The diff wasn't LSD but he only
wanted $100 for a 4.1 R180 with CV driveshafts and less than 100K's on it.
The wrecker couldn't sell the L20T ( A rare 6Cyl L series Turbo) thinking it
had a run bearing, eventually parting with it for $350. It really only had
a stuffed water pump bearing and the engine was in top condition. The whole
car was undamaged, except for the water pump which had been incorrectly
diagnosed as an engine bearing failure.
When I first saw this car it was a pristine, low Km, unmarked car. By the
time it had been stripped of its mechanical two years later, the body had
rusted through in many places.
