firstly you shouldn't have paid the fine, that makes it difficult to reverse
the process. Contact the office that sent you the letter,and complete a
sworn affidavit that you sold the car plates intact. Give them the name of
the bloke you sold the car to and they can match to the current rego via VIN
number, or if it is not registered they can enquire with himwhen he bought
it.
Do not let them fob you off
The moral of the story is never sell a car without keeping the plates or
changing over the rego straight away.

Subject: NOT HAPPY - another cop qeustion....
OK.....im pissed off. The other day i got a letter from the cops saying i
owe them over 200 bucks in speeding fines. Apparently i was caught speeding
in QLD on the 15th of Jan this year. But thats absolutly impossible as i
had just moved to Sydney on the 2nd!!!! I did however just sell the old
Falcon which would have still have my name on the plates (the rego ran out
late jan-i think). So from what i have gathered this guy i sold it to is
the culprit.
So i had to pay the fine (very pissed off) and i also lost some points. The
ONLY reason i paid it is because they were going to suspend my licence 3
days later. So what the hell do i do. Im guessing i write a letter and
tell them my story. They will probably ask me for proof that i sold the car
but i threw that receipt out just last month when cleaning up!!!!! So, im
sorta stuck between a rock and very hard place here. What are my chances of
getting my points and cash back????
