The turbo in the RS-X Gazelle should be a Nissan/Garrett T3 that uses a .48
turbine housing with a .3 compressor housing .The Skyline RS-X uses a .63
turbine housing with a .6 compressor housing. Although I've heard either turbo
can be found on both models but I've never seen this. The cracks in the turbine
housing will only get worse and lead to a leaking waste gate resulting in no
boost. This is a common problem but can be fixed by welding and machining.
Replacment housings aren't cheap especially the higher grade steel ones but
these don't crack. If the comp wheels been scraping the housing it could be
damaged aswell. Sounds like your up for a full rebuild. A lot of guys here use
second hand units from RB20DET and RB25DET Skylines as these will bolt on
depending what car the motors in. Some of these turbos are ball bearing and
feature ceramic turbine wheels and more advanced compressor design. The T25 From
the CA18DET and the T28 Turbo from the SR20DET would both require a different
exhaust manifold. The Cossies use T3 turbos so there should be plenty of them
available but i think they use a different bolt pattern on the waste gate flange
but this wouldn't be to hard to fit.A few turbo workshops in OZ import rebuilt
T4 turbos and components from England so you should be able to get one over
there cheap. But using larger turbos like these require after market engine
managment, larger injectors, intercooler etc. Or if you want 500HP fit a 60-1
turbonetics item and scare cossie owners to death. There's dozens of
combinations you can use and someone over there should be able to help you out
but i would go for an aftermarket computer.
