I agree Errol,
Reality can be a bit of a downer,
just think, if it wasn't for reality I'd be an independently wealthy
professional race driver and run a group B evo Audi Quattro for rallying, a
1200Hp 1.5litre mid eighties F1 car for racing and a Ferrari 250GTO as my
road car!
But about Datsun brakes,
For starters you should take side-on photos of your race car at rest and
during heavy braking.
If you know the spring rates and suspension geometry you should be able to
determine the weight distribution for brake sizing purposes - it will be
approximately the same for all Dattos.
Regards,
Nick

Nick,
I still think there is a lot to do on this brakes subject as it is an area
where a lot of Datto's get let down. The Honda Legend/Landcruiser caliper
setup on front struts weighs a tonne and with that much unsprung it cant be
good for handling!! I wish Brembo calipers were $200 a pair and carbon discs
were a practical low price street option (Wakes up with a start!!!! Ah
reality again :( )
Cheers

Errol,
Don't worry about it - I only corrected you because my name is actually
Nick, not because I was offended or anything.
Gee I love this list, between us there is not a lot that we don't know or
can't find out.
I hope this will contribute to more Datsun competition success.
I have only ever got quality information from you (Errol) and the Ozdat
forum, and it has been given freely and without obligation.
Such behaviour is, in my opinion, in the highest and truest ideals of
amateur sportsmanship and is becoming harder to find in any area of life
these days
Talk, thought and experimentation are great, otherwise we'd all be
mindlessly doing the same mods. as were being done 10 or 20 years ago,
prices for 'hot' parts would increase and it would eventually become
uneconomic to run a modified Datto.
Oh, and it gives me a good excuse not to go out to the garage and do some
work!!!
Sincerely
Nicholas Abraham
