Was surfing around and found on autospeed how to make one.
They say that the "can" is filled with scouring pads. Also the inlet pipe
goes to the bottom of the tank and the outlet is higher.
So from this I assume that the heavier oil gets trapped in the filter
(scouring pads) and gets left at the bottom to drain while the vapour exits
the top with a lot less oil content.
Does that make sense?
Can anyone confirm this?

get some aliminium pipe 2 1/2 to 3 inches diam, 300mm long, weld a bottom on
it,weld a fitting at the top for the crank case ventilation to goto, and
another fitting welded on top to take one of those tiny filters.
i doubt that there would be any prformance gain...
