My daughter' misfiring Mazda Capella problem has been solved! I could
hardly get the engine to start today after 3 days without driving it. When
it finally did start with full choke and pumping the throttle, it was
popping and spitting out the carby, as it has been doing for a couple of
weeks. After fully stripping the carby and cleaning it (after previously
fitting new leads, coils points etc), replacement of the plugs was the last
remaining option. The NGK plugs were only 6000Kms old which is why I hadn't
considered them. I fitted them when the motor was fully recoed.

It seems the LRP not only soots up the plug threads but it also causes the
plugs to prematurely die. When I (finally) replaced the plugs today with
some second hand Motorcraft plugs I had rejected from my Datto 1600 auto,
the engine no longer misfires when cold or feels weak. It now pulls like the
proverbial bull in spring time.

So if you get symptoms resembling fuel starvation or a manifold leak when
using LRP, try replacing the plugs (and the fuel).
