Richard,
Thanks for your sympathy. Yea the import owners will be totally slaughtered
by their insurers. The damage is repairable because the rear quarter that
got hit was full of bog and rust and just collapsed, so the doors all still
close. Unfortunately the cost to cut and shut will probably exceed the
value of the car, so I'll try to opt to have it written off and keep the
wreck to pull parts from. Rick's got a stocky auto that I'll probably buy
and swap all the gear into so we'll see how we go.

Sounds like a nightmare for all concerned. I'm sure the insurance companies
will go berserk with those turboed grey imports involved, I 'd hate to see
their next insurance premium! Good to know your uninjured except for the
Datto's panels
Is it repairable by cutting off behind the rear crossmember? If so it could
be worth rebuilding. You can remove the boot floor and rear quarters to
allow a replacement rear to be grafted on. As there is no suspension
mounted out the back this surgery doesnt affect the handling and is pretty
straight forward for any panel beater.
