Richard,
A lot depends on how rusty the area is.I've been lucking sometimes by spraying the thread from the inside and using vicegrips.I've also had the whole section break off and come away with the gaurd. But they can usually be got by drilling them out.The sills that I've seen don't include the front steped down section where the gaurd bolts to so if this section is rusted you have to hand make this.

can anybody tell me how to remove the bolt that holds the gaurd to the sill, mine is rusted solid. I'm not even sure what size it is... I got some replacement sills from 1600 workshop, whats the best thing to do? replace the whole sill or just part of it? I was thinking of doing part of it (as only part is rusty) but I'm not sure if it matches.... I might have to blend it in so it looks like it does. Anyway thanx in advance. Richard
