Damien,

The switch is wired into the earth wire from the relay. The sense wire is
either from the battery or ignition so the fan either stops with ign off or
keeps going until the water temp cools down. I prefer ignition sense as it's
pointless cooling the water in the radiator after the engine stops and the
temp switch is usually near the thermostat housing anyway, so it just uses
battery power when it's not needed.

Whether or not a Holden 88c thermostat & switch will work for you depends on
how big your radiator is and whether the heater already works well enough in
winter with a 82c thermostat. I have a W block which has much larger than
standard water jackets and the heater actually cools the water in the engine
by around 10c below the thermostat rating in winter time, so the actual
water temperature is around normal and the heater is great as well which is
a bonus. It was only 15 degrees here today and a frost forecast for tonight
so winter is coming early this year.

regards
Terry

All,

I assume that the temp switch in the thermostat is wired to a relay and when
turned on, it activates the fan. Am I correct????

Am I better of using a 88 degrees switch this winter (I am working at the
snow, so the 16 will be in negative degree temps most of the time)????.
Should I also use a diffrent thermostat???? How much is this 88 degree
switch worth???

Winter is good,

Damien
