Andrew,
The ratios in the Silvia have a 3.6 first I believe vs 3.3 in the R31. I
dont know about the 720 box but it sounds like it is a 71C. I know the 720 Z
box has a different main shaft and counter shaft to other boxes though. I
believe 3.6 first gear and a low second as well. The 71C box from the R31 is
30 mm longer than the Z18ET 71B box.and 50mm longer than a 240K 4 speed or
Stanza box.
Cross member mounts are the same on the boxes I have here.
Cheers
Feral Errol

Errol,
Is the 71c gearbox the same ratios in the silvias and R31?What about the 720
4wd
with the z24,is that a 71c as a mate said he used a box out of one and he
had to
modify the L series bell housing to suit the larger bearing. Can I use the
dogleg
bell housing as it looks compatable as far as bolt pattern goes. What length
is
the 71c and what what has to be done to the crossmember.Sorry about all the
questions but it seems like the way to go.
