List,

Recently I opened up my 4.4 LSD R200 diff, and to my surprise I could not
see any 'clutch' plates. What I did see however, was a sealed drum
near the big cog (is it called a 'crown' wheel?). I have been told that it
may be 'viscuos' LSD, and that it's better than convential LSD.

Why is viscuos LSD better??

If it is viscuos, what would the best oil be to use(am willing to spend
money for quality!), and how much should I use??

Apart from this little surprise, the conversion is going well and should be
in once I get my tailshaft made up(import flange put on 1600 tail shaft).

Being such a frequent topic, I will describe the process of the R200 into
1600 conversion once I have succsesfully completed it, hopefully it may
answer some questions others have!!

thanx,

Damien.
