Toyota do build some nice stuff, dont
they. And I would almost consider an early Celica with a twink in it,
lack of IRS is the big drawback. But they haven't built a GTR equivalent
IMHO.

have a soft spot too for that V8, I've thought of fitting one in the Crown
Royal (dead easy) but the 5MGE wont die, guess I'll have to buy the whole
Lexus in around 5 years.

I have to agree, but I have a soft spot
for the Lexus V8 engine. Something about modern technology, light
weight and compact design V's 30 year old monster alternatives from the
US.
My son (and I) are looking/dreaming? half
seriously at building the local "Ford" GT40 kit using one. I do note Ford has modern all alloy 4.6 litre. Not
sure if its up to the Jap design specs. though.

What's wrong with that - It's a beautiful Toy V8 in a Zed,
much nicer fit than a Chevy anyway.
At grave risk of being excommunicated from
this list I have just come across one of the neatest engine swaps
I've seen in a Zed, or any car. It is a Japanese donk at
least.
