A 200B has ADR27 anti-pollution crap fitted which means that you have a
sealed fuel system and the fumes are sucked into the engine to be burnt. It
doesn't rob the engine of any performance like most other pollution devices,
but it should be connected for the fuel system to operate as intended.
To release the pressure in the tank there is a T piece which is actually a
valve that sits on the passenger side strut tower. If this is not connected
correctly, then the tank will pressurise to the point that the fuel pump
can't suck fuel or worse, the filler hose can collapse to the point that it
will split.
To state the obvious there are 3 connections on the T piece and are
sometimes labelled A (Air), F (Fuel) and C or M or V (Crankcase, Manifold or
Vacuum). If yours isn't labelled then the hose from the tank goes onto the
centre connection, the end with the input arrow connects to the underside of
the air cleaner and the other end connects to a vacuum source on the inlet
manifold or on some engines there is a fitting on the crankcase breather.
I'm not sure exactly where the third hose goes on the 200B but it should be
obvious.
With the fuel pressure system connected it is quite normal for a small "pst"
to be heard when you release the fuel cap depending on how much pressure is
in the tank when you stop.
regards,
Terry

Subject: RE: Rough motor
It's the wierdest thing...today I was trying to run the motor and it was
sounding
much like a Victa...then I looked under the bonnet and I noticed there was
no fuel
in the bowl...so I thought it was out of juice so I went to pull the fuel
cap off and
I couldnt turn it because of a strong vacuum inside the tank...I eventually
got it
and the air rushed into the tank like a scene from that movie
"Backdraft"...well
not quite but anyway I'm thinking the tank isn't letting fuel get out
because of the
suction and sure enough the hoses that let the fuel tank breath while the
motor
is running are gone...this is the 200B L20B I'm talking about...the one
without
the charcoal canister...I loosened the cap and poured some fuel in and it
runs again
now. The only wierd thing is that remember I said the fuel used to sit above
the mark
a few millimetres now it sits dead on it.
I noticed this rough running after I put a blank plate in between where the
exhaust
recirculation pipe and engine breather hoses go into the carby...which
doesnt make
sense because the fuel breather hoses were not connected then either. Maybe
with
the extra vacuum in the manifold it was using a lot more fuel than before.
All I know is I should sort out the fuel tank so it can breath.
